Teaching yoga to teenagers can be amazingly rewarding and fun. It is also something much needed as stress levels in schools rise and the pressure on young people increases. Our youth yoga teacher training course will give you an in-depth and practical understanding of delivering yoga and mindfulness sessions to young people in a positive and supportive way.

What will I learn?
- Anatomy and physiology of teenagers and the implications when teaching yoga.
- Social and psychological understanding of adolescence including neuroscience.
- Asana, teaching cues, benefits and modifications
- Pranayama, focusing on safe breathing techniques to aid relaxation and reduce stress.
- Mindfulness based practices, both moving and still.
- Yoga philosophy and how this can be woven into sessions to empower young people.
- How to plan a yoga class and series of classes to meet the needs of your students.
- Teaching methods and how to adapt this to engage young people.
- Awareness of barriers to participation and how to overcome this.
- How to set up classes, insurance, DBS and funding, safeguarding and child protection.
- n.b. Adolescence is now considered to be from 10 - 24 years old; the course enables you to teach this age group.
You will learn how to plan and deliver both individual sessions and a series of classes for young people. Gaining an understanding of the needs of this age group, you will be able to create classes that both support and empower.
Who is the course suitable for?
Open to yoga teachers and trainees, youth professionals including teachers, youth and health professionals, parents and anyone with a keen interest in teaching yoga to young people. Please note, all non-yoga teachers can only teach within the context of their professional capacity.
Pre-requisit:
This course is open to all yoga teachers with a 200hr minimum training as well as health, mental health and youth professionals, teachers and parents who have at least 2 years experience of yoga practice.
DBS & insurance:
This will not be required for the course however you will need to have this in order to teach.

As a yoga teacher and college/high school teacher, I have always combined both discplines, teaching yoga and mindfulness to teenagers in a range of settings from schools to hospitals to support groups. My Youth Yoga training courses stem from this, sharing techniques that are tried and tested, whilst also offering you an insight into the development of teenagers and how yoga can support them.
I run a 200 hour teacher training, mentorship programme and CPD courses for yoga teachers. I am registered with Yoga Alliance, Yoga Alliance Professionals.
